Writing the blog entry before building the rest of the page.

Today is my last day in uniform in the U.S. Army. It marks a big change. I have three months of transition and terminal leave to get this project off of the ground. I started writing my novel series two years ago and recently got advice on how to go about publishing in a more attainable way.

I spent the month of February doing research (and recovering from the flu) along with the last preparations from retirement from the Army. I’m anxious to move forward, the first big step to move from phase 1: research to phase 2: advertising is building this website, along with a professional facebook page. In fact, I am building this blog entry before the rest of the site to give me a few more moments to get my thoughts in order.

So, coming in June 2024 (hopefully), is Book 1 of the Paetan Chronicle: The Witches of Serna. This is the first book in the War of the Mountains series, a four-book series that begins our story. I have a cover artist in the final stages of production and I am looking for a cartographer to transform the maps that I’ve drawn into something that’s more appealing to readers. I’m also planning, based on some advice that I’ve been given, to put this project in Kickstarter to offset the costs of the cover art and the map refinement, and to help build a community. I also plan on starting to build a community through several social media platforms.

So, the actual writing? Like I said, I started writing two years ago and ended up with more than a book. While I continue to write, I need to focus on getting book 1 published, but here are some of the other things on the way.

Book 2: Unseen Wrath

Book 3: Winter Fever

Book 4: The All-Consuming Flame

That will close out the War of the Mountains series. I am up in the air about the title for Book 5, which would be the first in the next series of the Paetan chronicle. I can’t decide whether the series would be called “The Ninth Moment” of one of the books in it would be called the Ninth Moment.

I might amend this later out of some anxiety. Hopefully, you’re reading this because you saw something on another platform and got curious.

I plan to write again next month. Take care.
