July 2026 Newsletter

Hey, folks – Apologies for the delay this month. Two main things have dominated this month.

First is the website redesign. That has, by far, taken the bulk of my time. But. Come check it out. I’ve redone most of the pages and introduced a couple of new pages. There’s an interactive map page with two maps, one that has mini-portraits of the races that link to the race pages (which are also new, basically the consolidated race/people appendices) and another one that has the battles on it for books 1-3 and pop-up text when you hover over it (this one was a real pain, especially for the mobile interface). It’s not 100% done, but it’s close. Close enough that I’m calling attention to it. Please come take a poke around. Tell me if things are broken or if there are things you would like to change or be added. Thanks in advance.

The other thing that was a major movement was having a booth at the 1st Annual Kansas Summer Spirit Festival in Leavenworth, KS. Good show, met a lot of great people (including ~61 new folks on this mailing list). I was the only author there. I’m not sure if that helped or hindered me, but we had a good show.

As a consequence of these, I am behind on editing and social media presence. I will tweak a few more things on the website and resume both of those. Also in the hopper, like I mentioned last month, are appendices. I think I’m settling on the following for Book 3 appendices:

  • Southern Humans: Gill

  • Gnolls

  • Ogres

I am on the fence about bugbears, as to whether they should be book 3 or 4 appendices. I have the same debate about whether the goblin appendix should have been in book 1 or 2, but I’ll have them all on the website so that when you’re reading book 3 and want to look something up about hobgoblins or orcs, you can just pull it up on your phone, laptop, etc, instead of having to carry around a copy of each book for its appendices. I aim to have portraits, at least one, for each of these.

No rest for the wicked, though. Next show is O-Con in Council Bluffs, IA (right across the river from Omaha), 17-19 July. Had to order more inventory due to the last show (not a bad problem to have). Will get back on the ball about editing and social media (I promise). Hopefully, I’ll get into writing the appendices before the end of the month.
