Ratfolk

Overview

Beneath the streets of the Gershan city-state of Versingit lies a vast network of catacombs, cisterns, sewer tunnels, and forgotten places. Within those dark places are disparate enclaves and underground villages of bizarre-looking rodent or rat people. They speak the same Marin language as their surface-dwelling neighbors, albeit with some differences in accent and slang that have arisen over centuries of vertical separation and isolation. They are roughly the same height and build as humans, though their faces, ears, hands, and feet are decidedly more like mice or rats. The ratfolk are reviled by the surface-dwelling Marins, considering them to be thieves and bad luck.
